Sammie Royce Reddell, 79, of Williamsburg, New Mexico, passed peacefully at his home on August 27, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.

He was born in Fort Worth, Texas, on January 27, 1946, to Wanda Dixon and Leonard Royce Reddell. After graduating high school, Sammie proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served his country with honor until his retirement in 1986.

His life was one of dedication to public service. Following his military career, he continued serving and protecting through his work with both the Tarrant County Sheriff's Department and the Sierra County Sheriff's Department.

Sammie was a man of kindness, generosity, and a wonderful storyteller. He often shared memories of working with NASA, caring for Ham the chimpanzee, and even looking after President Nixon's personal dog-stories that brought joy to those around him. He touched countless lives through his service, but the ones who meant the most to him were his beloved wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandson.

Sammie is survived by his wife, Betty, and two children, Vickie Condreay (Aaron) and Brian Reddell (Victoria). He was a proud grandfather to Imigen Reddell, Nathaniel Reddell, Ian Condreay, and Haley Condreay, and a loving great-grandfather to his namesake, Sammie James Reddell. Sammie will be remembered for his selfless service, his warmth, and the deep love he had for his family. His legacy of dedication, laughter, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
