James Reddell, 92, of
Magnolia, AR passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at The Springs of Magnolia.
Born January 28, 1933, James fondly remembers he and his brother, Bob raising two goats, Sylvia and Lucinda. Well, fast forward, he and his beautiful wife, Marilyn, had a daughter to raise.
James was working as an engineer for Entergy, while Marilyn ran the covered wagon antique shop. Later, they had the opportunity to purchase the Treasure Chest on the Magnolia town square. They put their heart and soul into their business for 17 years, and now it was time to explore new adventures. These adventures included many trips to visit their daughter Susan in Florida. James fell in love with tropical foliage. He enjoyed experimenting with growing unusual tropical plants in his garden in Magnolia. Due to his enduring fondness for gardening, he became a Master Gardner. He took pride when the Arkansas Master Gardeners toured his yard. And unbelievably, he enjoyed raking fall leaves.
As the yard work became physically demanding, more time was spent relaxing. James connected with the television show The Simpsons-doh! He continued to look for ALF reruns. And he and Susan were hooked on Hoarders; his wife Marilyn would have none of that show!
After Marilyn's passing, James found comfort in the company of his devoted daughter, Susan. Their strong bond became an even more precious lifeline. Also, during this time their home was rarely quiet, with the playful antics of his four cats: Garfield, Pokey Bear, Nermal, and Arlene. These spoiled darlings were more than pets; they were an extension of his family. They, too, will miss their "Daddy."
James enjoyed spending time playing dominos and was the last survivor of the Friday Nite Domino Group. Dear friends that have all been missed! They are together again.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Martin Roy and Norma (Henning) Reddell; wife, Marilyn Reddell; brother, Bob Reddell; special sister-in-law, Betty Meadows; and nephew, Richard Meadows. He is survived by his daughter, Susan Reddell of Magnolia and his nephews and their families, Phil Meadows of Magnolia, Marshall Meadows of Branson, MO, Bill Meadows of Burleson, TX, and John Reddell of Houston, TX.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Lewis Funeral Home, inc. in Magnolia. Graveside services will be Sunday, May 25 at 2:00 p.m. at the Magnolia Memorial Park Cemetery with Bro. Ray Durham officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to Guy NJewel Memorial Clinic, c/o First Presbyterian Church, 1417 N Jackson,
