Douglas Michael Hatchel, 51, of Myrtle Springs, TX, passed away peacefully at his home on March 20, 2025.
Born on December 31, 1973, in Dallas, TX, Douglas was the beloved son of Paul Douglas Hatchel and Barbara Jean Stafford Hatchel. He was raised in Mesquite and graduated from Palmer High School. In 2015, he made Myrtle Springs his home, where he continued his lifelong career as a skilled residential painter and general contractor.
Douglas had a passion for RC cars, he loved not only driving them but also the intricate work of building them. Known for his generous heart and kind spirit, he was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. His warmth, loyalty, and selflessness will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Hatchel; his sister, Tina Hatchel; his grandparents, Mary and Floyd Stafford; and his fiancée, Donna Kinnamon.
Douglas leaves behind his loving mother, Barbara Baughman of Myrtle Springs, TX; children, Katee Hatchel of Sweetwater, TX, and Justin Hatchel of Midlothian, TX; his devoted sisters, Shelly Roach and her husband Greg of Wills Point, TX, and Sonya McBride of New Mexico; "Popa" Wayne Baughman; uncle, Steve Stafford; along with extended family and many dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Arrangements were made under the care of Hiett's LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point.
