Douglas Carl Hawkinson

Douglas Carl Hawkinson, age 71 of Soldotna, passed away on March 18th, 2025, due to complications following a car accident. Douglas was born on June 4th, 1953 to Carl and Winsome Hawkinson. He grew up in Chisago City, Minnesota, where he worked on his family's farm, and graduated from Chisago Lakes High School in 1971. In 1980 Douglas made Alaska home. He was the owner of the Polar Bear campground in Sterling and worked in the oil industry as a crane operator for over 40 years, earning the nickname of "Ol' Faithful". Douglas was an excellent provider to his family and a long-time friend to many. He will be deeply missed. He is survived by his wife Margaret and her daughters Paige Blackburn and Kass Knodel, his brothers John and Alan Hawkinson, and his sister Carolyn Franklin. Doulgas was laid to rest at the Soldotna Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held on 31 July, at 5:00pm at 608 Yupik Rd, Soldotna, Alaska.
