Douglas (Pokie) John Herb, 55, a resident of Forest Grove, passed away on May 23, 2024 at the Kaiser Westside Medical Center in Hillsboro.
Doug was born on June 22, 1968 in Hillsboro, Or. He was the youngest of two sons born to Terry Herb and Linda (Satchwell) Ambler. He was raised in Cornelius until the age of 11 and then moved to Hillsboro. He graduated from Forest Grove High School with the Class of 1986.
He started his working career cleaning carpets for John Reding. He was then employed for 17 years at VanDyke Seed Co. His most recent job was working for his longtime childhood friend, Nick Duyck, at the blueberry farm.
He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, hunting & fishing. He enjoyed spending time with his many friends and family, He had been on the trap team at the Verboort Gun Club. He was a lifetime member of the Rocky Mt. Elk Foundation.
Doug had been a volunteer firefighter for the Cornelius Fire Department, working under the tutelage of his grandfather, Chief Lawrence Herb.
He was preceded in death by his father, Terry Herb.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather Linda & Jim Ambler of Forest Grove, a brother and his wife, Trevor & Vicki Herb of Forest Grove, a nephew and his wife, Austen & Brittany Herb of Yamhill and a niece and her husband, Mackenzie Taylor & Guillermo Huato of Portland.
Uncles Bob Herb & his wife, Brenda of Hillsboro, Bruce Herb of Maryville, TN, Keith Satchwell of Costa Rica and 4 cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Verboort Gun Club on June 22.
