Douglas Wayne Hogan, known affectionately to friends and family as Doug, passed away at the age of 65 on November 22, 2025, in his hometown of Topeka, Kansas. Born on April 22, 1960, to Orvan Anthony Hogan and Shirley Jean Olberhelman Hogan.
Doug's life was one marked by dedication, warmth, and a love for all things fast. Doug attended Topeka High School, where he began to shape a future characterized by hard work and commitment. Over the years, he worked for USD 501 in the maintenance department, showcasing his skills at Central States Machining and Weld, R and S Maintenance in Meriden, Kansas, and SEFA Construction in Lexington, South Carolina. His professional life was a testament to his ability to turn his hand to any task and his unwavering reliability.
He was the beloved husband of Jodi Hogan and a cherished father to Candice Jones and her spouse Andy, Aaron Claypole and his wife Amanda, Christopher Douglas Hogan, and Nicholas Wayne Hogan. Doug's joy was multiplied with the birth of each of his grandchildren: Evan Hogan, Chase Eckhart, Aiden Claypole, Grace Jones, Karter Wayne Hogan, Nicholas Hogan, and Ella Jones. His legacy continues through the lives of his loved ones. Survived by his sister Kathy Laible, his sister Karrie Hogan, his sister Diane Hogan, his brother David Hogan, and preceded in death by his brother Steve Hogan. His extended family included his brother-in-law Van Brown and his wife Melissa of Tonganoxie, Ks
and alongside numerous nephews and nieces.
An ardent enthusiast of NASCAR and all types of racing, Doug lived by the words of the legendary driver Mario Andretti, "If everything seems under control, you're not going fast enough." This passion for speed translated into his love for NFL football, where the thrill of the game captured his heart. Doug's life was a reflection of his values-family, hard work, and the pursuit of joy in every moment.
As we remember Doug, we are reminded of the impact one life can have on so many. We
take comfort in knowing that Doug lived a life full of love and excitement, cherishing every day and leaving behind memories that will forever be treasured. As we bid farewell to Douglas Wayne Hogan, we celebrate a life truly well-lived, a race run with heart, and a journey completed with love as its compass.
