Douglas A. Horner was born October 21, 1946, in Rochester, New York to Ted and Dorothy Horner.
Doug enlisted in the Army at the age of 18. He completed two tours in Vietnam and one year in Korea as a helicopter mechanic and flight engineer. After 9/11 he completed one tour in Iraq with the Army National Guard as a chaplain's assistant.
At age 33, Doug accepted Jesus as his Savior. He served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and church bus driver. He loved and found passion in mentoring and ministering to people everywhere.
Attributing to his strong faith is his wife of 46 years, Joanne. The two did many things together including driving across the country in 18 wheelers, professional movers, and raising four children.
Doug entered into Heaven April 17, 2023, surrounded by his family in Gulf Shores, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
He is survived by his wife Joanne, their children Tammy (Jimmy), Todd, Tim (Alicia), Stephanie (Elijah), Tammi Lynn (Charli), and Kimberleigh (Jay); twenty-one grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
