In Loving Memory of Douglas Duane Kuntz
November 28, 1941 - August 21, 2023
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the world lost a remarkable influence in Douglas Duane Kuntz on August 21, 2023. Born on November 28, 1941, he lived a life filled with love, joy, and a deep connection to the world around him.
Doug was a devoted husband, married for 47 wonderful years to his beloved wife, Sandra K. Kuntz. She was the absolute love of his life, and their bond was an inspiration to all who knew them. Together, they created a beautiful family that was the center of his world.
Dougie was preceded in death by his father, Duane Joseph Kuntz, mother, Ramona Hope Hicks Kuntz, and step-mother, Marie Kelley Kuntz. He is survived by his beloved sister, Melinda K. Hall.
Doug-o was a loving father to his five children: Michele Denise Moye, Lisa Kuntz Miller, Tanya Elizabeth Plepa, Christopher Douglas Kuntz, and Stephanie Laura Biesterveld. His love and guidance shaped their lives, and he took immense pride in watching them grow and succeed. His legacy lives on through his 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, who will forever cherish the memories they created together.
Professionally, Dougie-boy dedicated 38 years of his life to IBM, contributing to the world of technology with his hard work and dedication. Beyond his career, he was an avid outdoorsman, finding solace and joy in the beauty of nature. His passion for the great outdoors inspired those around him to appreciate the world's wonders.
Papa had an infectious laughter that could light up any room, bringing joy to everyone fortunate enough to know him. He was a devoted fan of the city of
Fayetteville, AR, and its beloved Arkansas Razorbacks. Every weekend you could find him on the third base line of Baum Stadium passing out Dougie Dogs and calling the hogs. He also enjoyed spending time on his bike, watching his children and grandchildren excel in sports, and cozying up with his wife to watch film noir.
A celebration of Grampa's life will be held on Friday, August 25, 2023, at 11:00am at the First United Presbyterian Church in
Fayetteville, AR. Friends, family, and loved ones are invited to gather to honor his memory and share stories of his remarkable life. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall, and all are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the
American Heart Association at www.heart.org. He recognized the importance of health and believed in giving back to causes that could help others live fuller lives. A dedicated Rotarian for 40 years, Dad was passionate about giving back to the community he loved. He was particularly involved with
Habitat for Humanity,
American Heart Association, and
American Cancer Society, embodying a spirit of selflessness and compassion that touched countless lives.
As we bid farewell to Doug, let us remember the love he shared, the laughter he brought, and the lasting impact he left on all those fortunate enough to know him. His spirit will forever shine bright in our hearts, and his legacy will continue to inspire us to live lives filled with love, kindness, and dedication to the causes that matter.
"Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy."
Jesus called, and he went.
