Obituary published on Legacy.com by The Cremation Society of Iowa - Des Moines on May 14, 2025.
March 31, 1960 – April 27, 2025
Douglas F. Laughlin, 65, of West Des Moines, Iowa, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2025, at EveryStep Kavanagh House following a courageous battle with cancer.
Doug was born on March 31, 1960, in Kansas City, Missouri, and grew up in Mission, Kansas, surrounded by the love of his siblings and family. He later moved to Iowa, where he met the love of his life, Sharon. Doug dedicated 34 years of his career to Patterson Logistics in Boone, Iowa, where he built lasting friendships and made a lasting impact through his hard work and dedication.
A man of great warmth and spirit, Doug had a deep passion for golfing, fishing, and cheering on his beloved Kansas City Chiefs. He found great joy in spending time with family and friends, sharing stories filled with laughter, love, and life's simple pleasures.
Doug is survived by his wife, Sharon Laughlin; sisters Kelly (Brian) Moore and Kathy
Laughlin; brothers Carl Laughlin (Kelly Puhr) and Tom (Lara) Laughlin; two stepchildren; four grandchildren; and many beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Jean Laughlin, and his sister, Mary Ohmes.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Lutheran Church of Hope, 925 Jordan Creek Parkway, West Des Moines, IA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Sharon Laughlin to support causes close to Doug's heart.
Doug was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and cherished him.
