Mary "Jackie" Silvers

Mary (Jackie) Silvers passed away peacefully on January 31, 2026, after a long, beautiful life at 96 years young.

Jackie was born on November 8, 1929, to Eula (Howard) and Charles Hicks of Harris, Missouri. She was proud of her farm background, where a person's word was a contract and hard work was a way of life.

In 1947, Jackie married Elton Sibley, and together they raised two children, Charles Michael and Linda Mae. She was a devoted member of Union Park Baptist Church, where she and her family were actively involved. As a family, they cherished time spent fishing in Canada and at the family farm pond in Missouri. Jackie and Elton shared 25 loving years together until his passing in 1972.

In 1979, Jackie married Robert (Bob) Silvers, a widower himself. Together they built a life filled with travel and many winters spent enjoying the warmth and sunshine of Donna, Texas.

After 27 years working in the administrative office for Younkers Department Store, Jackie retired and focused on the things she loved most-quilting, gardening, dancing, and especially reading to her grandchildren and teaching them how to cook.

Jackie is survived by her son, Mike (Sandi) Sibley; eight grandsons: Thomas Mitchell; Nick (Whitney); Luke (Lacie); Brandon Day; David; John; Mark; and Joe Sibley; six great-grandchildren: Colbie, Peyton, Ashtyn, Geniveve Wingert, Easlynn, and Finnley; stepdaughter, Diane Haight (Tom and children); stepson, Greg Silvers (Kris and children); and nieces and a nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eula and Charles Hicks; her husband, Elton Sibley; her sister, Colleen Miller; brother-in-law, Richard Miller; her granddaughter, Caitlyn; her husband, Robert Silvers; and her daughter, Linda.

Jackie's constant smile, witty humor, delicious pies, and the wisdom she shared with her family will be deeply missed. She will be carried on in our hearts, and every time we see an airplane in the sky, we will smile as we think of her. When Jackie was growing up, seeing an airplane was a rarity-just like her. She was truly one of a kind, and we are forever grateful that God placed us in her lives.
