Douglas Mulholland Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 18, 2024.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Douglas Alan Mulholland, a loving husband to Judy, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was surrounded by his loving family during his peaceful passing. He was 76 years old.
Doug, born on June 21, 1947, in Cleveland, Ohio, was the son of Helen and Robert Mulholland. He joined his parents and three beloved brothers, Robert, David, and Phil, who preceded him in death. Raised in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, Doug eventually found his way to Fort Worth, Texas where he would carve out a fulfilling life. A man of integrity, commitment, and quick wit, he was a loving father to his three sons: Bryan (Kristi), Doug Jr. (Tracee) and Michael (Jessica). His legacy continued to grow as he became a grandfather to nine little blessings, Jack, Brooke, Kyleigh, Nick, Cooper, Brayden and Hailey. He was also a great grandfather to Tate and Tripp. Doug is also survived by two sisters in law Jamie and Sherri as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In 1967, Doug answered the call of duty when drafted into the United States Army. He served his country with honor and courage as a member of the 23rd Americal Infantry Division, stationed in Chu Lai during the Vietnam War. Though he rarely spoke about his time in Vietnam, later in life he was able to open up to others, revealing a sense of pride he felt for the men he served alongside. Doug also expressed his gratitude to the Veterans Administration, whose patience and guidance proved invaluable in helping him navigate the challenges he faced in his later years.
Upon returning to Fort Worth in 1969 from Vietnam, Doug embarked on various career paths, briefly working for Shiner Beer and Coca Cola. In 1977, he found his work home as he began his dedicated service with the United States Postal Service, a career that spanned over four decades until his well earned retirement in 2019.
In 1977, Doug embarked on a new chapter in his life when he married Judy Ann Kemp of Arlington, Texas, creating a bond that would withstand the test of time and trials. This union brought love, support, and enduring memories that they cherished together. After the three boys grew up and moved on, Doug and Judy were able to travel the United States together meeting family and friends along the way. These were cherished moments between the two.
In addition to his professional achievements, Doug was a devoted father who actively participated in his sons' lives. He was known to lend a hand as a youth baseball coach, sharing his love for the game. Doug had a quick wit and a friendly demeanor that endeared him to all who knew him. He enjoyed engaging in trivia, poker and playing dominoes with his friends and family, creating memories filled with laughter and camaraderie.
Douglas Alan Mulholland's legacy will continue to live on in the hearts and minds of his family and friends. He will forever be remembered for his love, his unwavering dedication to his family and to his country as well as his commitment to work. May he rest in peace, and may his memory be a source of comfort to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
The family would like to thank the very compassionate and caring team from DFW Palliative and Hospice who helped Doug in the very end. Shannyn, Amanda, Celia and Kerry. We are eternally grateful for the warmth and guidance you provided.
