Doug Neve was born April 15, 1991 in St. Louis Park, Minnesota. He was born to Charles Neve, originally from Prior Lake, Minnesota and Joline Neve (Stoerzinger), originally from Lakeland, Minnesota. He was preceded in the family by an older brother, Will Neve, now of Bloomington, Minnesota. Doug is survived by all of them.
Doug attended schools in or near Farmington, Minnesota, graduating from St. Thomas Academy. In High School, his favorite extracurricular activity was Junior ROTC. His ambitions then included military service and possible service in law enforcement. Doug was athletic, though he derived enjoyment from athletic exertion more than organized competition. He practiced Kung Fu, achieving his 3rd Degree Black Belt. He loved paintball, snowboarding (at which he instructed), hunting, and fishing.
Doug loved being a Boy Scout. His Scouting career began in Tiger Cubs, progressed through Webelos Scout and terminated with the Eagle Scout award. In Order of the Arrow, he attained Ordeal and Brotherhood status. His troop held week-long camps some summers at Tomahawk Camp in Wisconsin but typically took ambitious trips as far afield as Canada, Colorado, and Tennessee. His family was close to that of the Scoutmaster and Doug became close friends with Seth Rustan, the Scoutmaster's son.
Doug attended several universities, ultimately graduating from NDSU in Political Science. During college, he joined the National Guard, serving with the HHC 1st to the 34th Armored Brigade Combat Team, Red Bull Infantry Division in Minnesota. Doug's military occupation was Air Defense Artillery.
While Doug studied at NDSU, Taylor Christine Senger became part of his life. Initially co-workers, those people who worked with them, identified their suitability for each other even before they did. Taylor found Doug to be a little naïve, even childlike, but fell for his good looks and sense of humor. A few years of friendship ensued before serious dating was undertaken, ultimately leading to a shared home and a marriage.
In recent years, Doug worked at a number of different positions. Most recently, he worked at Magnum Electric, a job he loved and hoped to continue. He was happy at work, since he was very fond of his co-workers and "learned something new every day". Doug was fulfilled by other things as well. He loved to hunt and fish. He loved his cats. He loved his family. And, he loved Taylor.
Doug was proud to be a Mason. He was preceded in Masonry by his great-grandfather and great-uncle. Doug was initiated an Entered Apprentice on September 28, 2020, passed to Fellow Craft on October 12, 2020, and raised to Master Mason on March 22, 2021. He held several offices in Shiloh Lodge of Fargo. On June 1, 2024, he was inducted into El Zagal Shrine.
