Memorial Park Riverside Chapel announces the sudden passing of Mr. Douglas Wilton Nicholson, age 68, of Gainesville, Georgia.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, Saturday, June 10, 2023 at Lakewood Baptist Church in Gainesville. Celebration of Life will be held 3:00 pm Sunday, June 11, 2023 at Lakewood Baptist Church with inurnment to follow in Alta Vista Cemetery.
Mr. Nicholson was born May 25, 1955 in Richmond, Virginia, the son of the late Thomas Owen Nicholson and Ann Richardson Nicholson. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Owen Nicholson.
Doug, known to his loved ones as "Pop", was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church. He was an avid UGA football fan. He was a very hard worker and loved working in his yard. Doug loved traveling to the beach and working with his 2 best friends, Tom and Babe, nicknamed 3 old men and a hammer. He was fiercely loyal and loved his wife, children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Shearin Nicholson; son and daughter-in-law, Tyler and Blythe Nicholson; son, Ryan Nicholson; daughter and son-in-law, Erin and Will Webb; grandchildren, Ava Nicholson, Turner Webb and Wade Webb; mother-in-law, Opal Shearin; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Andrea and David Benfield; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mark and Jena Shearin, as well as a number of other relatives.
