Douglas MacArthur Owings, 82, passed away at Carle BroMenn Medical Center in Normal, IL on September 2nd, 2025 with his family at his side.

Doug was born to David and Beulah Owings on June 30th, 1943. Doug enjoyed traveling the road as a truck driver. He loved watching westerns and eating breakfast at Rudy's with his friends.

Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Patricia (Jackson), brothers, Mancel Owings, Chester Owings, David Owings Jr, sisters, Frances Hepworth, Violet Daniels (Moore), Donna Michaels, Marlene Scranton, step-son Robert Sanders, his grandson, Brandon Turner Podany.

Surviving are his children, Edward Owings, Melissa (Denny) Podany and Tina (Randy) Hester, step son, Mike Sanders, grandchildren, Khristina (Alex) Helmich, Michelle (Justin) Ellis, Kayla Hester, Kiera Hester, Chad Owings and Lana Sanders, 9 great-grandchildren brother Donald Besterfelt as well as his cousins.

A visitation will be held on Friday, September 12th, 2025 at 10:00 am at Coonrod Airsman-Hires Funeral home in Winchester, IL with services to follow at 11:00 am. He will be laid to rest next to Patricia at Bowers Cemetery in Alsey, IL following services. Memorials may be made to his family in his honor.
