Doug Sands, 76 of Woodbury, GA died Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Upson Regional Hospital in Thomaston, GA.
Mr. Sands was born on March 11, 1949, in Griffin, GA, the son of Jimmy and Elvie Sands. He was a retired mechanic having retired from Sherwin Williams in Manchester, GA. He also had worked with Goody prior to the closing and Nabisco in Woodbury, GA for over 25 years. He was a very loving, hard working man that always provided for his family. Mr. Sands was an avid outdoorsman, he loved to hunt, fish, vegetable gardening, flower gardening and feeding his hummingbirds. He was a member of the Liberty Worship Center in Molena, GA. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jimmy "Bubba" Sands, sisters Barbara O'Neal, Darlene Kimball, Evelyn Sands, Dorothy Sands.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Virginia Sands of Woodbury, GA, children Lori (Steve) Benson of Thomaston, GA, Richie (Nanette) Sands of Woodbury, GA and Sherrie (Jackie) Taylor of Meansville, GA, grandchildren Chris Reagan, Brandon Reagan, Katlyn Benson, Kaylee (Nick) Price, Danielle (Josiah) Bennett, Coty (January) Taylor, Alyssa Taylor, great-grandchildren Aiden Nunn, Ellie Henderson and Wyatt Taylor along with many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Sands will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, December 19, 2025, at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home, Manchester with burial following in the Meriwether Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
