Douglas Shayne, 68, of Crofton, Maryland passed away September 6, 2024 after a long illness. Douglas was born in Morristown, New Jersey on February 22 1956 to the late Barbara and Charles Shayne of Morris Plains, New Jersey.
Douglas graduated from Morristown High School in 1974. He received 2 degrees from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia, a Bachelor of Science in Geology as well as Archeology. He worked in the construction industry all his life in both Virginia and Maryland, working at T.S.I. Exterior Wall Systems of Landover, Maryland since 1998. He also lived in Crofton, Maryland since that time. Doug was an enthusiastic follower of baseball, soccer and hockey. He was a fervent fan of the New York Yankees and New York Rangers. He enjoyed collecting sports memorabilia and listening to music of all genres.
He is survived by his siblings. George and his wife Eileen of Pacific Grove, California, Elizabeth Freeman of Mystic, Connecticut, and Andrew and his wife Susan of Middletown Springs, Vermont. He also leaves nieces and nephews Jeff Freeman, Chris Freeman, Cassie Shayne, Caitlin Morrow and John Shayne, Great-Niece, Hazel Freeman, Great Nephews, Alexander, Sawyer & Brooks Freeman.
He was buried at Union Cemetery in Hackettstown, New Jersey on September 27th at the site of his parents and infant brother Bradford.
A memorial service will be held on November 2, 2024 at a location and time to be determined.
Funeral arrangements had been entrusted to Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown,. NJ 07840.
