Doug and I worked together, where he protected the American people in the US and abroad, and I am so proud to have worked with him while covering the African regions. Doug was passionate, hardworking, reliable, serious when necessary, but most of all, one of the funniest men I have ever known. Our jobs were demanding and challenging every day, ensuring there was never a dull moment. Doug always found a way to keep things in perspective. Every time I spoke with Doug, even after he transferred to Atlanta, he never failed to leave me with a thought-provoking message. Every call always ended in laughter. Yes, folks, he was that guy. I am truly sorry that Doug is no longer with us, but his spirit and memories will forever be cherished. Family and friends, please accept my deepest condolences.

David most of our classmates have always had a high regard for your parents and brothers. All the Shipley brothers were cool, composed, well mannered, first class with a bit of humor. I remember your little brother Doug as a sweet, quiet, smart and serious young man. Know that your home folks from Jefferson City, though we are scattered everywhere [around the country], feel the loss of Doug's passing. According to the group chats I'm in, many will be attending the service on line. (I assume most know that Atlanta is on EST.) Praying for peace and comfort over the family now and in the days to come! Annette (Netta) Driver

Doug and I went to high school together. I remember when his family moved to Jefferson City, MO. All the little black teenage girls were all a flutter, because of the four cute boys moving to town. You would have thought it were the Jackson 5. LOLOL!!! Doug graduated with me and was such a smart, respectful, and financially responsible young man. He worked hard and it is quite obvious by his many accomplishments. This loss is still hard to accept, but I know all things are in God's timing and will. I pray for his family and their comfort in the loving memories of him. He may now rest in his forever home.

I worked with Doug Shipley when he was in El Paso, Texas and I remember him to be a kind and intelligent man. I am so sorry to hear of his loss, and my prayers are with his family at this time.
