Douglas Slaight Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hare Funeral Home - New Lisbon on Nov. 1, 2023.
Douglas R. Slaight II, known affectionately as Doug, passed away suddenly at his home on October 30, 2023, in New Lisbon, WI. Doug was the son of Douglas and Sheryol (Sona) Slaight and was born on February 7, 1979, in Sioux Falls, SD. Doug lived in South Dakota until his 20's and then moved to Texas for a few years. He later moved back to the Juneau County area. He had many friends in the area, including Jenny Kochie, who he started dating in 2017. Doug and Jenny later got engaged in 2018 and shortly after purchased a home in New Lisbon together.
Doug spent 15 years working as a skilled welder for Brenner Manufacturing and for Jim Webster in Mauston. He spent his later years cooking and DJ'ing in Adams County and Juneau County.
Doug had a passion for fishing, RC Cars, motorcycles, 3D printing, his Camaro and El Camino. He was known for his innovative designs and his ability to bring his creative visions to life. His friends and family remember him as a man who could never sit still, always tinkering with a new project or idea.
Doug Slaight was a man who lived life to the fullest, loved deeply, and shared his passions with those around him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, creativity, and kindness that will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the memories and stories shared by his loved ones.
Doug is lovingly remembered by his fiancée, Jenny Kochie of New Lisbon. He is also survived by his father, Douglas (Mary) Slaight of Iowa, and his parents-in-law, Jeff (Wilma) Kochie of Mauston, his sisters, Angie Bartels of Jackson, MN, Renee Lewis of Estherville, IA, Sheila Schafer of Estherville, IA, Renee Everson of Sioux Falls, SD, and his two brothers Jay Everson of Sioux Falls, SD and Buzz Libbey of Camp Douglas, Brother-In-Laws, Sonny Schuster of Madison, SD and David (Lori) Hartline of Elkader, IA along with his three best friends, Nate Kull, Josh Sutton, and Amos Kittelson and by his beloved dogs, Diesel and Rowdy, as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sheryol Pickering, a sister, Dawn Freeman, and his two favorite dogs, Fancy and Daisy.
A huge thank you to the New Lisbon EMS, Camp Douglas Ambulance, Mauston Ambulance, New Lisbon Police Department and the Juneau County Sheriff's Office.
