Douglas Quiren Sleger

With great sadness we share that Douglas Quiren Sleger passed away on January 5, 2026, at age 87. He was born on November 2, 1938, to Quiren and Beatrice Sleger. He was the beloved husband of Marjorie for over 68 years, and became father to four sons.

After graduating from high school, he began a secular career that took him across the country, but eventually he returned to his hometown in Manitowoc County. While many may know him from the various businesses he operated in the area, he is best known by his real vocation, a minister of Jehovah God.

As he studied the Bible, he formed a friendship with Jehovah God. As a result, Douglas dedicated his life as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on January 11, 1975. From then on, he spent a good portion of his time helping others learn of God's purpose for humans to live forever on the earth in paradise conditions. (Psalms 37:29) His greatest joy was working alongside his wife, Marjorie, in teaching the Bible's hope to others.

He became known for asking: "Wouldn't you like to be 18 years old again?" He would then proceed to share the Bible's promise of growing younger from Job 33:25 "Let his flesh become fresher than in youth, let him return to his days of youthful vigor." He held firmly to that hope until his death while looking forward to the day when he will be reunited with his wife again.

Douglas is survived by his wife Marjorie, his sons: Leon (Theresa), Clifton (Ann), Mark (Allison), Phillip (Angela). Grandchildren: Caleb (Michelle), Autumn Sleger, Samuel (Michelle), Josiah (Priscilla), Anna (Ian) Mitchell. Great grandchildren: Ariel, Leila and Henry. As well as his sisters, Marilynn (Joseph) Galineau and Rebecca (Martin) Papke.

Douglas was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Hannah Rose.

A Memorial Service will be held:
