Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jansen Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services on Jun. 9, 2023.
Douglas Raymond Stimson, affectionately known as Doug, was called home to be with the Lord on June 7th, 2023. Born on July 9th, 1953, in
Detroit, Michigan to the late Gordon and Ruth Stimson. Doug's memory will forever live on through the hearts and minds of his loving family, including his wife, Nerisa; his daughters, Lacy (Jay) Bobbitt and Sara (Jason) Carroll; his siblings, Don (Betty) Stimson, Debbie (George) Stroh, Gary (Bea) Stimson, Frank (Alice) Stimson, John (Al) Stimson, and Ronnie (Marlene) Stimson; his five grandchildren, Joel, Tessa, Kelcie, Wyatt, and Waylen, his three great-grandchildren, Ophelia, Nolan, and Maverick; and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Reggie.
Doug was a man of many talents and interests, but his passion for automobiles was truly unparalleled. After retiring from General Motors in 2009, Doug dedicated his time to building his own race car, which he proudly showcased and raced in numerous events over the years. As an avid racecar enthusiast for more than 20 years, Doug's love for the sport was infectious, inspiring those around him to share in his excitement and joy.
In addition to his love for racing, Doug was known for his adventurous spirit. He could often be found riding his motorcycle, exploring the open roads and taking in the beauty of the world around him. His creativity and ingenuity extended to working on cars, where he was always eager to lend a helping hand to friends and family in need of his expertise.
Doug's life was a testament to the power of love, thoughtfulness, and creativity. He was a man who wore his heart on his sleeve, always putting the needs and desires of others before his own. In the words of Mother Teresa, "Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier. Be the living expression of God's kindness: kindness in your face, kindness in your eyes, kindness in your smile." Doug embodied this sentiment in every aspect of his life, touching the lives of countless individuals with his warmth and generosity.
As we gather to remember and celebrate the life of Douglas Raymond Stimson, let us remember the love, laughter, and joy that he brought into our lives. As a southern preacher would say, "Doug's race is run, and he has crossed the finish line into the loving arms of our Heavenly Father." Let us honor his memory by embracing the qualities that made him such a special person – his kindness, his creativity, and his unwavering love for his family and friends.
In closing, let us take comfort in the words of the Apostle Paul, as written in 2 Timothy 4:7-8: "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day-and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing."
May Douglas Raymond Stimson rest in eternal peace, and may his memory serve as a beacon of love, hope, and inspiration for all who knew him.
