He was born on July 21, 1955 in Muncie, the son of James Lee and Patricia J. (Bartlett) Strong and graduated from Yorktown High School in 1973.
Doug dearly loved his family and was a wonderful friend to many. He loved boating and being near the water. He also loved the Indianapolis Colts and I.U. Basketball, along with fast cars and BT.
Surviving are three children, Martin Strong, Trent Strong and Tricia Cavanaugh; four grandchildren, Blayne, K.J., Bently and Trey; his former wife, Marcia Strong; one brother, Steve Strong (wife, Dee); one sister, Jan West (husband, Norm); half-sister, Melissa Achenbach (husband, Kyle); three step-sisters, Cindy Smith, Cathy Daugherty (husband, Scott) and Christy McKibben; and his girlfriend, Sherry Pierce.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Lee Strong; his mother, Patricia J. Coffman; his step-father, Raymond H. Coffman; and one granddaughter, Celina.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Cornerstone Center for the Arts.
The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel is in charge of arrangements and online condolences may be directed to the family at www.meeksmortuary.com.

I was introduced to Doug when I was sixteen by my brother, Randy Sanders, when we moved to Yorktown. I spent 18 years at Marsh Supermarkets and ran into Doug for many years at several Marsh locations through out our careers at Muncie Bread and Marsh Supermarkets. He always had a smile and a flirty compliment. Yes that was Dougie. He will be missed and my deep condolences to his children.
