Douglas "Doug" Earl Thatcher, 53, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 13, 2025, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania to Leroy "Skip" and Linda Thatcher. Doug was a truck driver and worked for CRST. He enjoyed riding motorcycles with the Moose Riders, video games, and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents he is survived by his girlfriend and soulmate, Susan Downing; sons, Zachary Thatcher, Bailey Thatcher (Autumn Hilley), and Haidyn Thatcher; step-son, Nathan Downing (Breanna Crawford); step-daughter, Alexis Downing (Cory Eads); granddaughter, Talia Downing; mother-in-law, Karen Holcomb; along with a host of friends and extended family.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 pm on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Kingsport with Pastor Rob Hoover officiating. Those wishing to attend are asked to arrive by 1:50 pm.
Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Kingsport is serving the Thatcher/Downing family.

I hadn't seen you since we were teenagers but I have great memories at county pool with Meemaw and Gram. Also, I remember cookouts at your house. I'm so sorry for your family that this happened to you just doing what you love. Love you, Tonya Smith. RIP Doug.
