Douglas Eugene Traywick, Jr.

March 21, 1951 - February 28, 2026

Douglas Eugene Traywick, Jr., lovingly known as Gene, was born on March 21, 1951, in Anadarko, Oklahoma, to Doug and Clara Traywick. He passed away peacefully on February 28, 2026, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas Eugene Traywick, Sr. and Clara Alice Traywick of Anadarko, Oklahoma; his beloved spouse, Rodger Badertscher; his favorite big sister, Anita Louise Traywick; his niece, Timbre Lynn Perry; and his nephew, Adam Thomas Wright.

He is survived by his brother, Russell Traywick of Chickasha, Oklahoma, along with several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews who cherished him deeply.

Gene was a faithful and devoted member of The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer. He loved singing in the church choir and also shared his gift of music at Saint John's Church. His faith guided his life and led him to serve others through ministry to the homeless and to inmates, work that brought him great purpose and fulfillment.

Gene had a deep love for nature and found great joy in gardening. He could grow just about anything and was well known throughout his community and church for his beautiful yard and vibrant flowers, which reflected the care and patience he gave to everything he touched. He especially treasured time spent with his beloved dogs, who were his constant companions.

In his younger years, Gene enjoyed hiking excursions all across the United States, embracing adventure and the beauty of the outdoors.

Professionally, Gene was a Union Carpenter and later served his community in transportation for many years. He drove City buses in Oklahoma City, hauled United States Post Office mail from surrounding post offices back to the central hub in Oklahoma City for several years, and later drove a Greyhound bus. He was passionate about learning and earned several degrees, including biology and paralegal studies, among others. His curiosity and dedication to education were lifelong pursuits.

Gene will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, service to others, and the beauty he brought into the lives of those around him. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Viewing will be held at Ray & Martha's Funeral Home in Anadarko, Oklahoma, on Tuesday, March 2, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. until close, and on Wednesday, March 3, 2026, all day.

Gene will be cremated. A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, located at 2100 N. Martin Luther King Blvd., Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
