Douglas A. Tyner, 95, of
Greenville, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2025, as he was surrounded by his loved ones.
Born in Greenville and a lifetime resident of Greenville, Douglas was a devoted Christian and faithful member of Praise Cathedral, where his faith served as the foundation of his life. He was known for his steadfast character, gentle spirit, and deep love for his family.
A proud veteran of the Korean War, he served his country with honor and carried that sense of duty and discipline throughout his life. After working for Greyhound for over 30 years, he found great fulfillment in operating his own touring company where he traveled to all 50 states. He often shared many happy memories of his travels.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine S. Tyner; his parents, George Wesley and Annie Myrtle Hunter Tyner; by brothers, Carroll, Ronald, Kenneth, Earl Tyner; and sister, Miriam Tyner Watson.
Douglas is survived by his son, Mike Tyner; his daughter, Cheryl Richman (Dale); and his grandson, Chad Tyner (Dr. Cassie Tyner); granddaughter, Dr. Ashley Baranowski (Rob); grandson, Christian Richman (Carlee ); and 7 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Yvonne Tyner Carter and brother, Danny Tyner.
The family will receive friends on 9:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. on Monday, December 22, 2025 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Downtown at 639 N. Main St,
Greenville, SC 29601. A "Celebration of Life" service will immediately follow at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel, with Pastor Chris Criswell of Praise Cathedral officiating. Burial will take place at Graceland Cemetery West after the service.
