On the morning of Sunday, February 15, 2026 our dear husband, father, friend and loved one, Douglas A. West, (BIG TEX) met his creator at home in West Palm Beach, Florida. Doug was an entrepreneur, business owner, home builder, real estate executive and the best story-teller ever! Doug truly was a source of joy to anyone fortunate enough to know him. Known for his famous margaritas and a joke of the day, he truly was bigger than life and will be sorely missed! Doug was a native of Texas ("where men are men and sheep are nervous") and moved to NJ in the early 1980's. He was devoted to his daughter, Monica, and granddaughter, Stephanie. His move to NJ brought his wife, Gloria, into his life. They married on the beach in Maui and traveled extensively. Doug quickly became family to Gloria's two daughters, Debbie and Maria. The family grew over the years with their marriages and four grandsons. His families in both NJ and Texas were united by his strong love of the Lord. A business graduate of Lamar University, in Beaumont, Texas, Doug excelled in sales, marketing, and closing the deal! He was the most loyal of friends and cherished Gloria and his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gloria Donnon West; daughter, Monica West Amsili (husband, Marc Amsili) of Austen, Texas; granddaughter, Stephanie Hamilton Champagne (husband, Nicholas Champagne) of Denver, Colorado; daughter, Maria Lisa Sala (husband, Tony Sala) of Marlton, NJ; daughter, Debbie Vesneski (husband, Tom Vesneski) of Mt. Laurel, NJ; grandsons, Nicholas Sala and Michael Sala of Marlton, NJ; grandsons Ryan Vesneski and Alex Vesneski of Mt. Laurel, NJ; cousin, Cynthia Ramey, of Dallas, Texas; and many, many friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend Douglas's viewing on Sunday, February 22, 2026, 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the Mount Laurel Home for Funerals, 212 Ark Road, Mount Laurel, New Jersey 08054. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 23, 10:00 AM at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Eglington Cemetery, 320 Kings Highway, Clarksboro, NJ 08020.

I will so miss my good friend of many many years and I know glo will miss him so much I know you extended his life with all the great care you gave him, I know we will me again in this wouderful journey I am sure he is creating a deal already in heaven. I was introduced to Doug through my friend George. Doug turned out to be one the most generous and fun people to have as a friend. Being with Big Tex and the Top Seed was always an adventure and sure to be fun. You could only be joyful around Doug. He was certainly 1 in a Million.
Please accept my condolences and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

So sorry that Doug has left us; his personality-plus captivating smile, quick wit, and humor lit up every room and touched everyone! Behind the big smiles and laughs was a sharpened, brilliant mind, so knowledgeable and well-informed about so much that he could hold court with business tycoons, royalty, aristocrats, socialites, and the common man. He was often sought out for his highly valued opinion and counsel. We were fortunate to call him a friend. We will miss him dearly. So happy we got to share a fun lunch several weeks ago. Much love, TJ, Neil, and a pup named Zuzu.
