Douglas O’Brien Whittington Jr., 79, passed away on Sat. March 8, 2025, at his home in Cato, MS. Visitation will be held on Wed. March 12, 2025, from 11am-1pm at Cato Baptist Church located at 1122 Cato Rd. Mendenhall, MS 39114. Funeral Services are 1pm on Wed. March 12, 2025, at Cato Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Ross Cemetery. Rev. Jack Partridge will officiate the services. Pallbearers are Leon Wedgeworth, Blane Wedgeworth, Logan Keefer, Alex Whittington, Mitchell Whittington and Phillip Jones. Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS is handling arrangements.

Mr. Whittington was born in Yorkshire, England on Feb. 1, 1946, to the late Douglas O’Brien Whittington and Mary Whitehouse Whittington. He was a member of Cato Baptist Church. Mr. Whittington enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his daughter, Nicole Wedgeworth (Leon); son, Brian Whittington (Rebekah); 4 grandchildren, Brynna Keefer (Logan), Blane Wedgeworth, Alex Whittington and Mitchell Whittington; 2 sisters, Patricia Shelton, and Jayne Mayo (Jerry); brother, Steve Whittington (Brenda) and 2 brothers in law, Fred Rees and Scotty McDonald. Mr. Whittington is also preceded in death by his wife, Toni Whittington and 2 sisters, Edith Rees and Sandra McDonald.
