Douglas Kendall Winter passed away from Lewy Body Dementia on the 29th of December 2025 at home surrounded by family. Doug was born July 21,1946 in Rexburg Idaho, the second son of five children born to Dorothy Garner Winter and George Richard Winter. Growing up he loved riding horses, swimming in the canal in the summertime and skating on it in the winter. Doug and his brother Craig spent a lot of time working on the dry farm in the area and helping their Grandpa Winter with his farm, stacking hay, driving the horses and milking the cows. However Doug's favorite thing to do was ride in the truck with his uncle Brent.
Doug has always been active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a mission to Australia when he turned 19. Doug paid for the first six months of his mission by himself from money he saved from a summer job.
One year after returning from his mission Doug met Evelyn Murphy at an M-Men and Gleaners Roaring Twenties party. They married on June 13, 1969 in the Idaho Falls Temple.
Doug drove semi-trucks for 47 of their 56 years together. Even more than being on the road Doug loved time spent with family, the beauty of the natural world, and telling stories.
Doug is survived by his wife Evelyn Winter, five children, Richard (Lisa) Winter, Valerie (Scott) Sluis, Forrest (Shelli) Winter, Jonathan (Dawn) Winter, Racheal (Steve) Warren, fourteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and his sister Karen Helton.
