I am so sorry to hear of skipper Yeckley's passing. My husband Steve Nichols and I joined the Sea Scouts with our daughters the 1990's and remained active until my husband passed in 2022. Steve worked so closely with him in so many activities- repairing boats, Sea Badge, Long cruises ,Bridge of Honor , Regattas, Sea Badge- the list is so long. The Skipper had such an influence on our activities during those years . My husband was so appreciative of his visit to him in the hospital . It was just one more example of Douglas Yeckley dedication to all members of Sea Scouts and so many of the youths that he taught sailing, and influenced their lives. He will not be forgotten.

I was just one of hundreds of Sea Scouts that admired and was grateful for Doug´s leadership. As a scout, and later, when I served almost twenty years as a mate, I always looked forward to sharing a meal, a laugh and a story with Doug at Regatta, Winter Training or Ball. I learned a lot from Doug about how to support scouts with a balance of love and discipline. I´m very grateful to have known Doug. My condolences to his beloved family.
