Dovie R. Hunter, 96, died Sunday, June 8, 2025. Born in York County, SC she was a daughter of the late Vander and Carrie Wilson Roberson. She was the widow of Harold Hunter. She was a member of the Westside Baptist Church where she served on the hospitality committee. She enjoyed cooking for church and family gatherings. Ms. Dovie loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved the Lord and was a faithful church member always enjoying attending church. Ms. Dovie was a retired cloth inspector at James Fabrics / Burlington Industries in Cheraw, SC.
Surviving is her son, Garry Hunter (Jane) of Cheraw, SC, grandchildren, Colby Hunter (Robin) of Hartsville, SC, Brock Ellis (Dawn), Heather Melton (Rich Thomas) all of Kings Mountain, NC, great grandchildren, Kya Hunter, Genises Hunter, Aydin Hunter, T.J. Hall, Clara Hunter, Samantha, Violet.
She is preceded in death by her husband and parents listed above, also, a son, Reggie Hunter, brothers, Randolph Roberson, Ezell Roberson, a sister, Cornelia Helms and a granddaughter, Susan Hunter.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at Westside Baptist Church, Cheraw, SC. Burial will be in Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends following the committal service.
