Doyle Wayne Phelps, a cherished father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2025, in Temple, Texas, at the age of 67. Born on February 10, 1958, in Waco, Texas, Doyle lived a life filled with love, hard work, and the companionship of those who mattered most.

Doyle was a dedicated mechanic, specializing in transmissions, a career that showcased his remarkable skills and unwavering commitment to his craft. His love for working with his hands was matched only by his devotion to his family. He carried a strong sense of duty, having served honorably in the Army, where he learned the values of discipline and service that he carried with him throughout his life.

He is survived by his beloved sister, Betty Davidson, his devoted son, JR Phelps, and a treasured grandchild, all of whom will carry his memory in their hearts forever. Doyle shared a deep bond with his Significant other  Rhonda Hurst, who stood by him through thick and thin, and he found joy in the loyal companionship of his dog, Bubba J, who brought light and laughter into his life.

Doyle was preceded in death by his father, Alvin Phelps; his mother, Marie Johnson; and his stepfather, Nolan Johnson. He also joined in eternal rest with his brothers, George and Chester Phelps, and his sisters, Kathy Callhan and Patricia  David,  Brother in Law Butch Davidson, Nephew John Davidson. Their memories shall forever be intertwined with Doyle's spirit, forming a tapestry of love and support that transcends time.

As we remember Doyle Wayne Phelps, let us celebrate a man who demonstrated kindness and strength, whose laughter could brighten even the cloudiest of days, and who remained steadfast in his love for his family and friends. May his legacy of hard work and loving spirit inspire us all to cherish each moment and to hold our loved ones a little closer.
