Doyle Dean Stiles

Doyle Dean Stiles, 94, born 12-09-1931, passed away, Saturday, February 21, 2026 (also his Dad's birthday).

Born to George and Fanny Stiles on East Hickory Knoll, in Macon County, NC. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Keith Stiles and step-son (fishing buddy) Billy Warner, as well as 2 sisters, Leneta (Frank L.), Barbara (Ross) Cloer, and first wife, Betty Stiles.

He graduated from Franklin High School in 1951. Joined the Air Force May 1951-May 1955. He was a Cryptographer, served at Ramstein Base in Germany, and a Veteran of the Korean War. He graduated Western Carolina University 1959 with a Bachelors degree. He worked at American Enka in Clemson, SC as a cost accounting manager, and Coats and Clark in Toccoa, GA as a cost accountant. At work, he was known as being “grace under fire”.

He was married to his loving, caring wife Linda lvy W, Stiles for 42 years. Surviving besides his wife are a loving daughter, Janis Stiles Hopkins (Holt), and their family of 3 daughters, and 5 grandchildren. Also surviving are a bonus beloved son, Steve Warner (sports friend) and his son Daniel and his 3 children; loving nephews and nieces; and loving neighbors; notably, Danny Gillespie, Sandra Talley, Robin Barrick, and Beverly Kolousek. .

Doyle was of Christian faith, attended Hickory Knoll Methodist Church growing up and First Baptist Church for many years after moving back home to East Hickory Knoll in 1994. They enjoyed being door-greeters and class card senders for many years. They participated in the Sunday night Bible Studies and other activities offered there, making many friends. Doyle practiced his faith by praying before each meal even if it was only ice cream. He was an inspiration to all who knew him. His faith was strong even until the end, praying before the last meal. He loved watching and feeding the deer and birds. He was a good wood maker of knives, lamps, and tables. He loved his woodworking projects, reading his Bible daily, and reading thru the Bible many times following the “open windows” plan.

He leaves a legacy of memories of faith, love and forgiveness.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
