Michael "Doug" Stiles

Michael "Doug" Stiles, 73, of Waynesville passed away on February 15, 2026, a native of Haywood County.

He was born October 16, 1952 to the late Rufus and Francis Stiles. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Mark Mull, his brothers Jimmy Stiles, Bill Stiles, Wayne Stiles and a sister Pat Myers.

Doug found great joy in watching The Andy Griffith Show, which he could recite with ease. He also enjoyed The Three Stooges. He found happiness in the simple pleasures, savoring his moon pies and his favorite candies. He could be found spending time hunting, fishing, and exploring the mountains. He cherished spending time outdoors connecting with nature.

Left to cherish his memories are his beloved wife, Barbara G. Stiles, his children Jennifer Knox (Josh), Jesse Stiles (Katie), Cynthia Goodson, Shannon Creson (Nina), Kim Meeks (Jerry), Michael Mull, Misty Gray (Kimber). He also leaves behind his grandchildren and great grandchildren, Jakob (Ann), Nicholas, Korbin, Kollyn, Shaina, Hunter, Ashley, Felicia, Tiffany, Lee, Aubree, Addison, Lexi, Baylee, Channing,Nyah, Drake, Jennica, Jaxson, Sophia, Jessica, Lilly, Nathan, Collin, Tanner, Hailey, Hallie, Roquet, Austin (Gracie), Easton, and Charlotte Rose; and one great grandchild on the way; and his brothers, Dave Stiles, Ricky Stiles (Julie) and Donald Stiles.

Funeral Services will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday February 19, 2026 at Smoky Mountain Cremations and Funeral Service with Mathew Pressley officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm prior to the service. Burial will follow at Red Bank Cemetery.
