Doyle Tippit age 86 of Salado, passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2024 in Temple.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 23, 2024 at Scott’s Funeral Home in Gatesville, with Minister Deral McWhorter officiating. Interment will follow at Restland Cemetery. Doyle’s family will receive visitors one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Larry Doyle Tippit was born on January 28, 1938 in the Owl Creek community of Coryell County to the late Marvin Leroy and Alta Sue Bruton Tippit. He grew up in the Hubbard community and attended school in Flat, graduating from Flat High School in 1956. Soon after, he married Sarabeth Fisher on February 22, 1957 and they resided in Gatesville. He served in the Texas Army National Guard for two years. In 1958, he started working at Mid-Tex Telephone in Killeen for eighteen years, until 1980, when they moved to Palestine, where he began a career with the Texas Department of Corrections. He worked for twenty years as an Industrial Supervisor for the Texas Correctional Industries, retiring in 2000. After his retirement, they remained in Palestine until moving to Salado in 2006.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Roy Tippit, Billy Gene Tippit and Ray Tippit.
Doyle is survived by his wife of 67 years, Sarabeth Tippit; daughter, Lisa Gonzales and husband, Andy; sons, Larry Tippit and wife, Sandra, Clif Tippit and wife, Sondra; grandchildren, Haley Avery, Kelly Filsinger, Jennifer Welch, Richard (Ricky) Tippit, Justin Tippit, Lindsey Kelley, Erica Muniz, Lara Esquivel; twenty-two great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
