Lynn Eileen Stanaway, 65 of Gatesville, Texas passed away on December 31, 2025. Born on August 22, 1960 in San Francisco, California, Lynn lived a life of generosity, warmth, and fun times had with family and friends.
Lynn had a career in massage therapy where she owned her own business and worked on a cruise ship at one time. She was dedicated to careers that served the public and had experience working as a medical assistant as well as working in the public school system. Lynn grew up in the Millbrae United Methodist Church where she served as a youth leader and was always eager to volunteer. She eventually moved to Texas where she fell in love with watching wildlife and attended Grace Bible Church. Lynn believed in the gospel of Jesus Christ. She is in the presence of His glory now and forever until his return.
Lynn was a foodie and her own words she “lived to eat, instead of eating to live.” She looked forward to family trips and planning extravagant meals to celebrate and spend time with the people she loved. Those that knew her will miss her sharp wit, infectious laugh, and giving heart.
Lynn is preceded in death by her parents Donald and Carol Stanaway, stepmother Charlotte Smerdel, sister Dawn Stanaway, and brother Terry Smerdel.
Lynn is survived by her daughter Zoe Clanton and her husband Eric Clanton; brother Tony Smerdel and his wife Diane Smerdel; sister Cathy Little and her husband Harry Little; sister in-law Cyndy Smerdel; grandchildren Lux Lee and Lottie Clanton; nieces Maryah, Amanda, Amy, Danica, Kayleigh, Anna, and Clare; nephews Jack, Nathan, Christian, Stephen, and Vince; and many loving cousins including Gary, Peggy, Michael, Matthew, Corey, Carol, Randy, Jimmy, Leslie, and Georgia to name a few.
