Julia Loraine Stanaway

MARQUETTE, MI – Julia Loraine Stanaway, age 71, of Marquette, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2024, at Trillium House, in the loving, comforting care of her family.
Julia was born April 12, 1953, in Alpena, Michigan, a daughter of Julius Virgil and Norma Kathryn (Olson) Senchuk. She was raised in Alpena and graduated from Alpena High School, Class of 1971. In 1977, Julia was united in marriage to Tom Stanaway and together the couple made their home in Marquette where they raised their three children. For many years, Julia was employed as a cook in the Food Service Department at Northern Michigan University, from where she retired. In her leisure, she enjoyed reading, crocheting, oil painting, and especially visiting with family and friends. She especially loved keeping up on the activities of the grandkids.
Julia is survived by her children, Kristin (fiancée, Kurt Huot) Fortino, Carrie (Peter) Adams, and Andrew (Macy McDonnell) Stanaway; her grandchildren, Brenden (Kaylee) Fortino, Leah Fortino, Emily Fortino, Gabriela Fortino, Easton Huot, Alexis (Samuel) McKnight, and Evan Adams; great-grandchildren, Laura Fortino and Cecelia McKnight; her sisters, Janice (Paul) Rays and Laurel Moors; former husband, Tom Stanaway; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
