Dr. Bijoy Kundu Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 3, 2025.
, NH - Bedford Dr. Bijoy L. Kundu, MD, of Bedford, NH, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2025, in New York City, surrounded by her children and daughter-in-law. She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Renita Kundu of New York; her son and daughter-in-law, Bijit and Allison Kundu of Massachusetts; her beloved grandchildren, Amara and Lila; and her sisters, Gayatri Kundu and Dipti Pal of India.

Originally from Kolkata, India, Dr. Kundu immigrated to London, England, in the late 1960s, where she completed her medical residency. She later moved to central New Hampshire, where she built a distinguished medical career. In 1974, she established her private practice at Catholic Medical Center, becoming the first female OB/GYN in the Manchester area. For over four decades, she provided compassionate care to countless patients, delivering babies, supporting families, and earning deep respect as a physician across generations.

Affectionately known as "Jolly" by friends, Dr. Kundu embraced life with warmth and joy. She cherished time with her family: spoiling her grandchildren, sharing meals with her children, and calling her sisters. She found happiness at Hampton Beach, had an infectious laugh, and was always ready to dance. Her legacy of kindness, dedication to caring for others, and unwavering love for her family will be forever cherished. She will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Dear Renita (Dr. Kundu) and family, I am profoundly saddened to hear of the loss of Dr. Kundu. I was fortunate to have gotten to know her when I lived in Bedford, NH and was able to spend time in her home helping with various projects. One of those was bringing out the holiday decorations from storage so that she could decorate the house for visits from her beloved family. She spoke lovingly and proudly of you often. I'll miss our conversations, her laugh and her polite manners. God bless her and all of you at this time and always.
Fondly,
Joe Bruno
