Devlin-Gatcha Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. - PhoenixvilleDr. Donald Hunter Cook, 87, husband of the late Jane (Pinkerton) Cook and Joann (Bronson) Cook of Birchrunville, PA passed away on Monday, November 3, 2025 at home.
Born on April 8, 1938 in Haverford, PA he was the son of the late Hunter S. and Eleanor (Neilson) Cook.
He graduated from Spring-Ford High School, class of 1956 and was the valedictorian, Albright College in 1960, and Hahnemann Medical College in 1965.
He was on the Medical Staff and Pathologist at Lankenau Hospital from 1966 to 1984 and Phoenixville Hospital from 1984 to 2000. He was the Medical Director of the Blood Bank at Phoenixville Hospital from 1994 to 1998. He was also a Professor at Temple University School of Medicine, Penn State University, and Jefferson Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of St. Peter's Village. He served on the American Baptist Churches of PA and DE Board and Executive Committee. He was member of the Horseshoe Trail Club 1989 - 2019, Vice President from 1993 - 1995 and 2008 -2019, and President from 1995 - 2008. Served four terms on Board of Directors of the Green Valleys Association, served on Northern Chester County Youth Aid Panel, Reins of Life Therapeutic Riding volunteer and Board Member, West Vincent Environmental Advisory Council and Advisory Council of the Chester County Department of Aging.
Dr. Cook loved riding his horses, cross country skiing, canoeing, kayaking, and camping with his family. He always wanted to tell someone "Remember, Jesus loves you."
He is survived by his children:
Barbara (Cook) wife of John McGuigan;
Steven Cook.
Step-daughter, Martha (Bronson) wife of Steve Cicala.
2 Grandchildren, Jason McGuigan and Miranda McGuigan.
Brother, Robert husband of Carol Cook.
Nieces, Laurel and Beth and nephew, Thomas.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service in the Devlin-Gatcha Funeral Home, 517 S. Main Street, Phoenixville, PA on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 11:00 am with Rev. Leonard Lewis officiating.
A visitation will be held in the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 am.
