James Sinnott Obituary

James Thomas “JT” Sinnott, 24, of Phoenixville, PA, tragically passed away on Friday, October 24, 2025 with his sisters Erin and Mary at his side, at Sasebo City General Hospital in Sasebo, Nagasaki, Japan. He fell critically ill, just one day before his scheduled flight to return home and bravely fought his toughest battle for 15 days until he ultimately succumbed to his illness, diagnosed with a rare and aggressive autoimmune disease.

Born on March 13, 2001, in Phoenixville, he was the cherished son of James W. and Michele M. (Solick) Sinnott. During his childhood, JT could be found at the PECO baseball field playing tee ball or cheering on his older siblings and playing on the soccer field at PASC. During his high school career, he excelled in the sport of tennis and developed a deep love and appreciation for the sport of golf. JT participated in the Bridge to Employment Program, where he mentored younger students and helped them navigate their future lives both during and after high school. He graduated from Phoenixville Area High School in 2019 and went on to receive his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering through Widener University in 2023, where he also played collegiate golf. He was proud to be employed through the Philadelphia Navy Yard and was on assignment at US Fleet Activities Sasebo in Japan, a United States Navy Base, as a US government civilian contractor specializing in Mechanical Engineering.

JT was known for his dry wit and quick one-liners, as he found joy in life's simple pleasures, especially hanging out with his family, close friends, and online gaming buddies. He was the glue that held the Sinnott family together, as he loved to frequently plan family get-togethers with immediate and extended family. Some things JT enjoyed the most included playing a round of golf with his dad and brother, lounging in his flannel pajama pants, sipping on a cold Yuengling or a neat whiskey, having an occasional cigar with buddies, and working on a DIY home project to gift someone. His selflessness, kindness, and pure heart will be remembered fondly by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

JT is survived by his oldest half-sister, Beth Ann (Sinnott) Smith, his older brother, Will Sinnott, husband to Lindsay (Barainyak) Sinnott, and his older sisters, Erin and Mary Sinnott. JT is also survived by his niece, Emmie, and nephew, JW, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins who will forever carry his memory in their hearts. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Michael and Joan (Parr) Solick, and his paternal grandparents, William and Margaret (Yednock) Sinnott.

Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate his life during the Funeral Mass at St. Ann Chapel, located at 604 Main Street, Phoenixville, PA, on Friday, November 7, 2025, at 11:00 AM, with Reverend John J. Newns officiating. Words of Remembrance will  begin at 10:50 AM.

Burial will follow at St. Ann Cemetery.

A viewing will take place at Devlin-Gatcha Funeral Home, located at 517 S. Main Street, on Thursday, November 6, from 4:30 to 7:30 PM, and again at the Chapel on  Friday, November 7, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM.

Rest in peace, JT, our son, our brother, our best friend.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be given in JT's name to St. Ann Catholic Church, 502 S. Main Street, Phoenixville, PA 19460.
