In Loving Memory
Marian Kate Thomas, age 76, passed away at her home in Chantilly, Virginia, on December 16, 2025. She was born March 7, 1949 in Washington, DC, the second child of six children from the union of Loretta and Paul A Thomas Jr. She graduated from high school in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, and obtained her B.S. and M.S. in biochemistry and nutritional studies from Drexel University in Philadelphia. She became an expert in microfiltration and held positions as a medical laboratory specialist and sales manager in her field.
Marian was a competitive swimmer and lifeguard in her youth. She was a breast cancer survivor, an avid reader, and a collector of southwestern art. She was a talented pianist and choir member. She expressed unwavering faith in God at the Ox Hill Baptist Church in Chantilly. Her dogs, Miracle and Marva, were Marian's passion.
Marian is survived by her father, Paul A. Thomas, Jr., and his wife, Eva Hernandez-Thomas; her sister, Laura Paynter; and her brothers, Paul, John, and Robert. She is predeceased by her sister, Shoshana Kleiman. Numerous cousins of the Thomas and Hardin family lines also survive her. She has no children but loved her many nieces and nephews. Her final wish is to be cremated, with the remains to be spread at the grave of her late mother, Loretta Hardin Thomas.
Marian will be honored by relatives and friends during a video memorial planned for her birthday, March 7, 2026. Donations in her memory can be sent to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
