Harold Wright Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Koch Funeral Home - State College on Jan. 2, 2026.
Harold C. Wright, Jr., beloved husband, father, and granddad, passed away on December 30, 2025 surrounded by his family's love. He was 89 years old.
Born in Coatesville, PA, Hal became an independent insurance broker who built a small business of trust and integrity that thrived for more than 50 years. He earned a B.S. from Penn State University in 1958 and an MBA from Drexel University in 1963. Hal went to work for bearing manufacturer SKF and made innovative changes at Alan Wood Steel Company before striking out on his own. For him, the insurance business was all about people, and he took great satisfaction in securing his clients' futures.
Hal raised his family in the suburbs of Philadelphia and then on a small farm in Chester County. He and his wife Helen lived on their farm for three decades, then moved to State College in 2003. In retirement, Hal was active in Penn State's alumni association and mentored students at Smeal College of Business. He was a lifelong booster of Penn State Football and an avid supporter of the Penn State ice hockey program. He loved driving and talking about fast, well designed cars.
A gentleman and a devoted family man, Hal made us laugh and always found a reason to feel lucky. He is survived by Helen, his cherished wife of 69 years; his son Harold and daughter-in-law Judith; his daughter, Karen; grandson Jacob and his wife Becka; granddaughter Amelia and her husband Joseph; and great-grandchildren Ezra, Samuel, and Ryan. Hal joins his mother Rebecca and his father Harold in peace.
