"If you love me, don't you be afraid to look in my eyes and open up the gate. Then watch me ride beneath the new born sun. . . . just like them horses. . . . when it's time to run. -Reba McEntire
Dwayne Russell Arvold 4 x 4'ed up to the gates of Heaven in his buggy on Thursday, August 14, 2025 yelling to his dad Jordon Arvold "Get in, it's been a while!"
Born on March 20, 1969 to Dr. Jordon and Sandra Arvold, he joined sister Karla and brother Don and a few years later they welcomed little brother Daniel into the family. Growing up on the shores of Deer Lake, Dwayne and his siblings enjoyed the lake life only the way kids could. Fishing, boating, swimming and sharing it with so many of his friends and classmates of Chisago Lakes Baptist School. At the family's hunting property Kittywaumpis in Exeland, WI, the love of hunting was instilled into Dwayne and passed along to his children. The weekends and hours spent four wheeling, hunting and hanging with friends and family were a large part of his happy life.
Dwayne visited Milltown Baptist Church with the Maart brothers one Sunday, and even the flashiest bass fish couldn't outshine the young Shirlon Anderson who was at church with her family that day. Through Proms, flight attendant school, a move to Missouri to attend Logan School of Chiropractic, and finally settling in Star Prairie, Wisconsin, Dwayne and Shirlon made their life together, welcoming sons Logan, Collin, Blaine, and daughters Pippi (Mikaylyn) and Lindsay into their lives and adventures. The strong values and commitment they instilled into their children came full circle when the kids chose to keep Dwayne at home on his farm as he battled Parkinson's. Determined to make sure their dad had a fulfilling life up to the very end, they went out of their way to construct special deer stands, set him up in his recliner outside to enjoy their weekend shenanigans, and in the end, becoming his caregivers. But they couldn't do it alone. Auntie Tammy was there to guide them through thick and thin and friends Dwayne, Jim and Todd never forgot their good friend.
Adoray Hospice needs to be commended for the amazing support and guidance that they supplied to the family during this chapter of their lives. There is a special place in Heaven for the talents and compassion that team held for the family. Christian Community Homes of Osceola provided amazing and compassionate respite care for the family also.
Dwayne touched the lives of all who knew him, both young and old. Through his hands with chiropractic medicine, the buses of youth he faithfully took to Eagle Brook Church was demonstrated by the last phone call he received five minutes before his passing from little six-year-old Charlee. "Hi Dwayne, I hope you will be happy in Heaven. I will always remember you sharing your cheerios with me. I love you."
The family will not be having a memorial service. They hope that loved ones will understand. A huge celebration was had in March for Dwayne's 56th birthday where numerous family and friends gathered to enjoy and laugh with him and the family for the day. The family looks back on that day with such great memories of happy people and more importantly, their happy husband and dad. "We have been living a daily funeral for the last two years. The tears, anxiety and sadness that has been weighing on us has been exhausting. We are happy. We know Dwayne is happy. He is free from this horrible disease and finally able to enjoy the wonders of Heaven. He would want us to be happy, not sad."
Instead of a funeral, take an hour of your day, grab yourself a slice of lemon meringue pie and type up a story or memory of Dwayne and send it to the family. They plan to compile them and put them in a book to look back and remember him by.
