Dr. LeAnn Rebecca Simpson passed away Monday November 17, 2025 at NMMC Gilmore-Amory at the age of 63. She was born March 28, 1962 to the late Patrick Conn and Carol West. She graduated from Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1985. She treated all sorts of animals, but she drew the line at snakes. Helping animals recover their health was Dr. Simpson’s obsession. At both the West Point Animal Clinic and the West Point/Clay County Animal Shelter, she has spent her career putting animals first.
She is survived by her husband, William ‘Billy’ Simpson of West Point; 2 sons, Randy Simpson (Lauren) of West Point, Bruce Simpson (Brittany) of West Point; brothers, Roger West, Jr, Kenneth Conn, Charles Conn; sisters, Darla Estes, Brenda Wilson, Debbie Benefield; step-father, Roger West, Sr.; 4 grandchildren, Brock Simpson, William ‘Ollie’ Simpson, Gresham Simpson, Lowen Simpson; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Victor Brooks, Betsey Bates, and Melanie Elmore.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandparents.
A memorial service will be held at 6 PM Thursday November 20, 2025 at Robinson Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5-6 PM Thursday at Robinson Funeral Home. Honorary pallbearers are the Doctors and nursing staff at NMMC-West Point, Dr. Ned Miller, the late Dr. Ed Miller, ICU nursing staff at NMMC Gilmore-Amory, and NM Home Health.
