Jimmy Dale Vail, age 85 of Carrollton, AL went to be with his Lord on Saturday November 8th, 2025. Jimmy was born August 17th, 1940, in Pheba, MS to the late Robert Henry Vail and Ruby Clark Vail. He graduated from West Point High School. He was retired firefighter with the City of Columbus and worked with Coleman Construction for years while he worked as a firefighter. He was also a veteran of the United States Army serving in the Vietnam war where he received the Presidents Medal of Honor for being under constant fire on the frontline for 30 days straight. He was active member of the Church on the Rock and Brother’s Keeper.
He was proceeded in death by his parents; his wife Virginia Vail; a niece Alana Aucoin. Survivors include his son Stuart Vail (Kerry) sister Jeanette Vail, 4 grandchildren Foster Vail (Maesie), Brent Vail (Jalee), Mattie Vail Britt (Hunter), Sarah Vail Shirley (Coy) 7 great grandchildren Emma Vail, Ivy Vail, Blaize Vail, Parker Vail, Drake Britt, Travis Britt, and Rhett Shirley and 1 great niece Megan Aucoin.
Graveside Service will be at 2 pm on Wednesday November 12th 2025 at Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery in Pheba, MS with Stuart Vail and Foster Vail officiating. Pallbearers will be Brent Vail, Eddie Wright, Shane James, Benny Coleman, Tony Clark, Frank Upton and Derrance Smith. Honorary Pallbearers and special thanks to Nickie Hammonds, Scott Thacker, Delphine Hughes, Latisha Williams, Melissa Merideth, and members of the Church on the Rock.
