It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) Hays of Amarillo, Texas, who left us on January 20, 2025. Bob was born to Leslie Claire and Flo Hays on March 5, 1937, in Winfield, Kansas.
Graduate of University of Kansas and Northwestern Medical School, Bob was a brilliant surgeon, practicing in Dallas, San Francisco, and settling in Amarillo Texas to join the Amarillo Surgical Group in 1973 where he practiced until his retirement in 2001. Bob’s expertise and dedication made a significant impact in the field of medicine. His quick wit and humor endeared him to all who knew him, creating lasting bonds with family, friends, colleagues, and patients alike.
Outside of his professional achievements, Bob had a multitude of interests that he pursued with passion. He was an avid fly fisherman, a skilled photographer, and a lover of music, each hobby reflecting his diverse talents and zest for life.
Bob leaves behind his beloved wife, Mary Jane, and his cherished daughters, Libby, Sarah, Erin, and Drew. He will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In remembrance of Bob, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of love, laughter, and dedication. His legacy continues through the many lives he touched and the memories he created.
