Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home - Pass Road - BiloxiDr. Thomas Mathew Poothullil of Biloxi, MS passed away peacefully on August 30, 2025, at the age of 79. He was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and uncle.
Dr. Poothullil was born on December 27, 1945 in Cochin, Kerala, India to Mathew and Elikutty (Elizabeth) Poothullil. He moved to the U.S. in 1971 for medical training. He started his Internal Medicine and Pulmonary Disease practice in Biloxi, MS in 1977. He retired in 2017 after more than 40 years in medical practice, a career he cherished and spoke of with pride. He loved being a doctor and was known for his compassion, dedication, and sense of humor that brightened the lives of his patients, colleagues, friends, and family. His love of travel took him to many wonderful places throughout the world, creating lasting memories with family.
Dr. Poothullil is preceded in death by his parents: Mathew and Elikutty (Elizabeth) Poothullil; and by his siblings: Sister Maria Tessy, P.M. Joseph, P.M. Verghese, P.M. Mathew, and Rosy Joseph.
Dr. Poothullil is survived by his children: Sarah Erwin (Zachary), Tess Holden (Mark), Alex Poothullil (Michelle); his grandchildren: Judah, Harki, Elias, Noah, Matthew, Grace; his siblings: Kochuthresia Joseph, Alice Varkey, Dr. John Poothullil, Mary Joseph, Antony Poothullil, and Jobe P. Martin, their spouses and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Mass of Christain Burial will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Biloxi on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 11am. Friends my visit one hour prior. Interment will follow at St. James Catholic Church Cemetery in Gulfport.
