Funeral service for U.S. Master Sergeant Drew Allen Schwaiger, 39, of El Paso, Texas, formerly of Cullman will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, August 30th, 2025 at Cullman Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. David Currie officiating. The family will receive friends from 12-2 prior to the service. Interment will be at a later date at the National Cemetery in Montevallo.

Cullman Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.

Drew passed away August 14, 2025 at his residence in Texas. He was born May 4, 1986 to Paul David Schwaiger and Rebecca Ann Freeman Schwaiger. He was a great leader and mentor. He always did whatever he could to help people and was the light of the room when he walked in. Drew saved others' lives on more than one occasion. He was actively serving in the U.S. Army and was currently stationed in Texas. He had served in the infantry, airborne, a wolfhound in Hawaii, and had served two tours of duty in Iraq, His wife said lovingly "he was the biggest goofball ever!"

Drew was preceded in death by his father, Paul "P.D." Schwaiger; grandfathers, Paul Schwaiger and Leon Freeman.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine Lee Schwaiger; grandmothers, Sarah Schwaiger, Naomi Freeman; mother, Rebecca (Curtis) Bates; step-mother, Tammie Schwaiger; sons, Brandon Schwaiger, Jude Schwaiger, Odin Schwaiger; step-son, Caleb Brooks; daughters, Allie Schwaiger, C step-daughter, Kandace Brooks, Chloe Schwaiger; brother, David Schwaiger; step-sisters, Charity Bryan, Stephanie Hood; his service dog, Athena; family and friends.
