Duane Everett Bennett

Duane Everett Bennett, a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished grandfather, passed away on April 25, 2025 in his home in Ector, Texas. Duane was born and raised in Longmont, Colorado. He graduated from Longmont High School in 1974.

Duane worked as a carpenter, construction foreman and a meat cutter. He was respected for his strong work ethic, leadership, and commitment to quality and service. After retiring in 2020, he and his wife Cindy moved to Texas to enjoy family, a slower pace of life and to live in the country. Living in the country allowed him to use his "green thumb. He planted and grew the best gardens. His tomatoes, cucumbers and anything else he grew were the most delicious you'd ever have, it's like you could taste the love in them.

Duane found his greatest joy being around family: spending time hunting with his son and grandsons, working on projects with his wife, and gathering for meals. Duane was a man of few words but wasn't shy about cheering for his Denver Broncos when around Texans.

Duane was a Christian man of faith who loved being a part of the Ector Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy (Fry) Bennett; his children, Dustan and wife Amber (Ayres) Bennett and Sunny (Bennett) Fitzgerald and husband Rob; his grandchildren, Jaden Bennett, Barrett Bennett, Bennett Fitzgerald, and Charlotte Cleo "C.C." Fitzgerald; and his sister, Charlotte Hughlett. We'd be remiss if we didn't mention his faithful dog, Stan. He is also lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews.

Duane was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Cleo Bennett (Lyon).

A memorial service to celebrate Duane's life will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2025 at 12:00 PM at Ector Baptist Church in Ector, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Ector Baptist Church in his memory.
