Gloria Janice McBride, 93 years of age, passed away peacefully at Cedar Hollow Rehabilitation Center in Sherman, Texas on May 26, 2025. She was born on July 17,1931 to Jesse Marvin Morris and Julia Ann (Whitener) in Paducah, Texas. She was the second child of four children. Her mother, Julia, tragically passed away when Gloria was three years of age and her father later remarried, producing four more siblings. Gloria married Bob J. McBride on February 4, 1950, in Tyler, Texas. Bob and Gloria raised three children – Robert Wayne, Kenneth Raymond, and Julie Carolyn. Gloria enjoyed traveling to many places in her marriage as an Air Force bride, bravely caring for her family as a young mother as Bob was assigned to several overseas bases. Bob and Gloria settled in Denison, Texas in 1968. She was offered the newly created Denison Girls Club Director position, serving for seven years. During her tenure, they built their first new facility. She also served as an advisor for City of Sherman Girls Inc. as they started. Gloria later worked with the Denison Chamber of Commerce as its Executive Secretary and as Education Secretary for First Baptist Church of Sherman. With her husband, Bob, she owned and operated a Steamatic Cleaning business for ten years before their retirement.

Gloria fiercely loved her children and was blessed for many years by having most of her grandchildren living on the same property. Hosting a bountiful meal for her family gave her the greatest joy. She dearly loved her grandchildren and provided for many of their needs "behind the scenes." She lived long enough to enjoy her great grandchildren and prayed for them daily.

Although Gloria always excelled in every work position that she held, the community remembers her most as a strong Bible teacher and a dedicated prayer warrior. During her tenure at First Baptist Church of Sherman, she led the largest Sunday School and Vacation Bible School enrollment at the time, always emphasizing to teachers that God's Word was the most important aspect of their teaching time. She also maintained an active prayer list that she worked through daily. Many people can credit her prayers to God's provision – whether it was a financial need, healing for an illness, or a need for family reconciliation. Gloria was noted for her steadfast love of God and her caring heart for others. Throughout her lifetime, she was considered a spiritual mother to many.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobbie Jean McBride; parents, Jessie and Julie Morris; step mother, Annie Mae Morris; siblings, Joe Henry Morris, Sandra (Morris) Berry, Jessie Dean Morris, Dorothy (Morris) Thompson; children, Robert Wayne McBride, Kenneth Raymond McBride.

She is survived by her daughter, Julie Rickey and husband Brad; grandchildren, Jessica Greene, Sean Grover, Rebecca Krishnamurthy, Kathlene Grover, Gloria Marin, Kaitlin Grover, Michael Grover, Christopher McBride, and Elizabeth McBride; great grandchildren, Providence Greene, Micaiah Greene, Eben Green, Rhett Grover, Nik Krishnamurthy, Juna Krishnamurthy, Aria Krishnamurthy, Jack Marin, and Charlotte McBride; siblings, Carol (Morris) Truskoaky, Charles Morris and James Morris.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00 am on June 6, 2025 at Post Oak Fellowship 2100 N. Woods Street Sherman, Texas 75092. All are invited to come and celebrate her life with the family. An open mic will be available to share your favorite story or blessing.
