William McBride, of Lumberton, passed away September 26, 2025. He was born to the late William and Mary (nee Herring) McBride, May 28, 1938 in Catawissa, Pennsylvania. He graduated Bloomsburg High School, Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania in 1956. William met his future wife, Julia McBride (nee Letts), by chance at a restaurant in Honolulu, Hawaii in February 1969. After a long-distance courtship, they married in September in Canada and lived together in Lumberton, New Jersey until her passing in 2022. He is preceded in death by his wife Julia just shy of 53 years and two sisters (Marqueen and Ruth Pelton) of Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania. He is survived by his brother Ronnie of Benton, Pennsylvania and sister Julie (Charles deceased) Butz of Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, two children William (Stacy), of Westampton, New Jersey and Patricia Amelung (Ryan), of North Wales, Pennsylvania, three grandchildren David (27), Olivia (24), and Emily (16), and many nieces, nephews, and cousins in America and Canada. He enlisted in the United States Air Force June 15, 1956 and retired May 27, 1998 as a Senior Master Sergeant spending most of his career as a flight engineer instructor and supervisor on the C-141 Starlifter at McGuire Air Force Base. He was a Vietnam War and Operation Desert Shield and Storm veteran and received numerous awards and acclamations. Besides serving in the Air Force, he was a husband, father, grandfather, avid gardener, shade tree mechanic, handyman and woodworker, solitaire and cribbage expert, father to several fur babies, and longtime parishioner of Saint Andrew's Church, Mount Holly where he was an usher and collection plate counter. A visitation (10-11am) and Memorial Service (11am-12pm) will be held on Monday, October 6th, 2025 at the Perinchief Chapels, 438 High St., Mount Holly, NJ 08060. The interment and military honors will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery, Main Street, Lumberton, New Jersey. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the polycystic kidney disease foundation (pkdcure.org). Friends and family not able to attend, may watch the service at streamed on ZOOM.
