Robert A. Cotton, Sr. of Lumberton, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was 89. Born in Mount Holly, Robert was a lifelong area resident. He was a graduate of Rancocas Valley Regional High School and then served his country in the US Air Force. After his honorable discharge he worked for RCA as a defense contractor at Willow Grove Navy Base in Warminster, PA. For a time, he owned his own business, Omega Electronics. Robert later returned to work for RCA where he had top level clearance working on the first Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense System. The USS Ticonderoga was the first Navy warship to be equipped with the Aegis combat system. Robert retired from Lockheed Martin. Robert loved all music genres and was ahead of his time, converting old technology to new beginning with 78s to 33s and 45s, records and VHS to CDs. He enjoyed going to Range 14 at Fort Dix and was a member of the Telco Gun Club. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandsons building and launching model rockets and building Lionel model train platforms. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren always brought a smile to his face. The son of the late Harry A. and Sara E. Cotton (nee Bodine), he is survived by 3 children: Beth Turner and her husband Bruce, Stephen J. Cotton, and Robert A. Cotton, Jr.; 2 grandchildren: Brian Robert Turner (wife Jessica) and Brad Everett Turner; 3 great-grandchildren: Hayden, Noah and Kinsley. He is also survived by a sister Evelyn Haines and a brother Harry "Jim" Cotton. Relatives and friend are invited to attend his visitation on Monday, September 29th from 10am -11am at the Perinchief Chapels, 438 High St., Mount Holly.
